In Volendam wordt een poging gedaan om paling in gevangenschap voort te planten. Op die manier wil men voorkomen dat de paling uitsterft. Paling wordt al gekweekt, maar daarvoor is nog altijd jonge glasaal uit zee nodig. En die is vrijwel op. DBC volgde de onderzoekers jaren in hun poging de paling voor uitsterven te behoeden. De film won de tweede prijs voor de beste instructiefilm van het NitraAgroFilmfestival dat gesteund wordt door de FAO, de wereldvoedselorganisatie van de VN. De film is er in een versie met en zonder presentatie. Van deze documentaire werd ook een wetenschappelijk en Engelstalige versie gemaakt . Opdrachtgever: Ministerie van Economische Zaken en Klimaat. In Volendam in the Netherlands InnovationNetwork tries together with Glasaalvolendam BV to save the population of wild eel. The problem is that there are not enough young eels in the ocean, cause we eat them all. Therefore in the Netherlands, the University of Leiden together with GlasaalVolendam tries to grow the population of eel in a laboratory.
